Why great nutrition is the foundation of your child’s learning!

As a family-focused children’s nursery in Altrincham, our team are proud to offer a nurturing and supportive environment that feels like a second home.

We understand our responsibility to positively shape young minds and bodies. That's why we focus on holistic development, providing excellent nutrition and language and music lessons.

In this blog post, we’ll explore the reasons behind our commitment to the first of these three areas and how great childhood nutrition will benefit your child's physical and mental growth.

So the obvious question to ask is, ‘Why is good nutrition so important for my child’s development?’

Good nutrition fuels growth

Healthy food is essential for a child's development. At our nursery, we’ve worked hard to ensure your child’s meals are deliciously balanced and packed with essential nutrients. We’re proud to offer dishes and snacks rich in vitamins, minerals and other vital nutrients for your child’s physical growth.

We also ensure your child’s meals contain the required protein to support muscle development, calcium to strengthen their growing bones and a wide range of fruits and vegetables to boost their immune system.

Good nutrition powers the brain

The brain needs a steady supply of nutrients to function, particularly during the early years of rapid development. Omega-3 fatty acids in fish and some plant oils are fantastic for brain function. Iron-rich foods like lean meats and spinach help improve concentration and cognition. By providing nutritious meals, we help ensure your children have the energy and focus needed for learning and playing throughout the day, right until they get home.

Good food boosts emotional and mental health

Proper nutrition also plays a role in children’s emotional and mental health; a well-fed child is less likely to experience mood swings and behavioural issues. Foods rich in B vitamins, such as whole grains and green leafy vegetables, support the nervous system and help regulate mood. By offering balanced meals for children of all ages, we’re contributing to their overall well-being. And if they’re happy, they are more likely to engage with their surroundings, key workers and peers. In short, not only will they develop physically, they will be in a much better place emotionally to deal with all the amazing things that they are seeing and experiencing on a daily basis!
